Meditation

Many years ago, I played around with meditation and yoga. I remember reading several essays that talked about the ability to increase weight loss with meditation. I know from what I did at that time, that this was true. I was not severely overweight and was losing simply by keeping my calories low in combination with some yoga and stretching.

I had done very detailed calculations that predicted my weight loss based on activity and caloric intake. The calculations were very accurate and predictable. Once I had started the meditation exercises, my weekly loss increased to the point of exceeding what was possible based on what I was eating.

I was spending however, several hours a day doing meditation and yoga. Times were simpler, I was younger and had few responsibilities and no family. These days, there is no way I could find that time; it’s hard enough to do my treadmill and stretches every day.

I have, however, found a way that simpifies the process of meditation. My wife has been using it for some time - she has no weight problems, but has found that it decreases tension and reduces her need for sleep, presumably by making her sleep hours more efficient.
